Respones that influenced my text/opening sequence from target audience research

How the results/responses have influenced my text/opening sequence?
These are the questions from my questionnaire that had a real impact/influence on my work and why, ones not included did not.

1: What is your age?

The majority of the age groups of people who answered this question ranged from aged 17 – 19, this getting an average age of 18. This was effective and helped influencing my text on giving me an idea that I may possibly need to change my age certificate on my movie from 15 to 18 because if the majority of people were 18 or above maybe it would be more ideal to them. However, after looking through the context and plot of my actual movie it made me come to the realisation that my movie wouldn’t fit an 18 certificate requirements and standards, therefore, my movie remained a 15.

2: When watching a thriller film, what sub-genre do you prefer?

The most favoured thriller sub-genre within this question was actually a tie between the psychological thriller and also the conspiracy thriller. This particular information did influence my text because my film already previously had the sub-genre of a crime thriller, therefore, after seeing the results and seeing how much a psychological thriller was favoured alongside conspiracy, it gave me the idea to add elements and conventions of these sub-genres into my film, (so for example the boy’s kidnappers are mentally ill/unstable/psychopaths and the kidnapping is never really
properly solved – ending up being a conspiracy in some aspects).

3. What is it about that sub-genre (that you have just chosen) that you like so much?

When looking at the responses they were equally quite similar, with the general reasoning being : “Because it is outside of the box/different/not like other movies.”. This made me realise that I did not want my thriller movie to be the stereotypical, standard thriller film with a predictable ending and plot-line. The way I acted upon this way by going to my synopsis and making some changes to the plotline, by making it more exciting and adding the most unpredictable big twist nearer the end. To add on to that,  I also searched up very famous thriller films that did well in the box office, looking at their plotline to see what made them different, stand out and be so popular in comparison to the other, average thriller films.

4. What is the main thing do you think makes a film opening (particularly thrillers) effective?

The responses for this question mainly consisted of just how the way the film overall is represented and setting a good tone and atmosphere for the rest of the film. This was beneficial in the sense it simply offered me the motivation to do exceedingly well within my opening sequence.
